American Football – from the 19th century to today

Gerald Gems, Ph. D., is a full professor at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois USA.

He is the past president of the North American Society for Sport History and the author of more than 150 publications, including 8 books. He has made more than 60 national and international conference presentations, and currently serves as the regional editor for the Pan-Asian and International Journal of Sports and Physical Education, associate editor of the International Journal of Sport Science and Physical Education, associate editor of East: the Sport Sociology Journal of Taiwan, and book reviews co-editor of the Journal of Sport History.

Currently, he is Fulbright professor at the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences.
