Doctor Honoris Causa

Professor Gertrud Pfister from the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences at the University of Copenhagen has reseived the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" from The Senate of Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary.

Gertrud Pfisters main field of research is women’s sport and gender studies from sport sociological, historical and methodological perspectives. She explored the role of women in political, social and cultural-historical changes, the gender relations in decision making committees of sport organisations, or representation of female athletes in mass media.
Gertrud Pfister has published 50 books (mostly in English and German) as author or editor and around 250 articles in scientific books or journals.

Professor Pfister got into scientific contact with the TF in the beginning of the 1990s with the Department of Social Sciences. We organized the 6th World Congress of the International Society of Sport History together in 1999. Since that time she has been the invited lecturer of several conferences, forums, and university courses in Hungary, and has been the consultant for some Ph.D. students.

Gertrud Pfister is the second woman to receive the honourable Honoris Causa title at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences /TF/.
