Professor in coaching psychology
Reinhard Stelter was appointed professor of coaching psychology at the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
Last year he has established the Coaching Psychology Unit at the Department with the intention to strengthen research and to communicate research and practice to a broader public.
The German born Reinhard Stelter is a central person in regard to establishing both sport- and coaching psychology in Denmark. He was the first in the country, who received a PhD degree in psychology with special focus on sport, self and identity. He was the president of the Danish Forum of Sport Psychology between 1994 and 2004 and member of the managing council of the European Federation of Sport Psychology.
Since 2000 Reinhard Stelter’s special field of interest has been coaching, a term that originally comes for the world of sport but receives large attention in organizational life. In 2002 he has been editor of the Danish bestselling book ”Coaching – learning and developing” . During the last years he has been engaged in developing a theoretical framework for coaching that integrates a phenomenological with social constructionist perspective Reinhard Stelter is Honorary Vice-President of The Society for Coaching Psychology, member of the managing board of European Mentoring and Coaching Council, associate editor of the international journal Psychology of Sport and Exercise and member of the editorial board of two international coaching psychology journals.
Since 2009 he is member of the Research Advisory Panel for The Foundation of Coaching which has an office at Harvard University. Since 2004 he has been member of the Advisory Board of Copenhagen Coaching Center.
Inaugural lecture
Reinhard Stelters inaugural lecture has the title ”Sketches of postmodern coaching psychology” and will take place on 23 March 2009 at 3.30 p.m.
