392.000 Euro for research in type 2 diabetes

Jørgen Wojtaszewski received 392.000 Euro from the ”European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes” (EFSD) to support the research  project:

Molecular studies of mitochrondrial dysfunction and intramuscular signaling in response to insulin, hyperglycemia and acute exercise in type 2 diabetes

The project aims to elucidate molecular events leading to insulin resistance and mitochondria dysfunction in skeletal muscle of type 2 diabetes.

In addition, the project aims to pinpoint key regulatory events involved in the improved insulin sensitivity observed after a single bout of exercise.

Professor, PhD Jørgen Wojtaszewski is part of the research group Molecular Physiology at Institute of Exercise and Sport Sciences at University of Copenhagen.

The Project is a collaboration with MD, PhD, Assocociate professor, Kurt Højlund at Odense University Hospital.
