What mechanisms are involved in muscle fatigue development?

In this project, mechanisms thought to be of importance for muscular fatigue development are investigated. One focus is on regulation of Na+,K+ pump activity and expression.

In addition, the temporal pattern of fatigue development is investigated. The relative importance of different fatigue agents is investigated by manipulation of for example muscle pH, Na+,K+ pump expression, blood oxygen content etc. The aim is to identify the relative importance of putative fatigue agents at different time periods of an exercise bout lasting 3-6 minutes.
