Role of TBC1D1 in insulin stimulated glucose uptake and improved insulin action after exercise

TBC1D1 is a newly identified molecule likely involved in regulation of glucose uptake in response to both insulin stimulation and exercise.

The aim of this post doc. project is to characterize the content and regulation of TBC1D1 in muscle and furthermore investigate if regulation of TBC1D1 during exercise is part of the mechanism allowing for more potent insulin action on glucose uptake in recovery from exercise. This knowledge is critical in prevention and treatment of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
